National Science Foundation
On the announcement that Dr. Larry Smarr has accepted a faculty appointment at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Smarr will retain the part-time post of Strategic Advisor to the National Computational Science Alliance at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
All of us at NSF and in the computational science community are grateful for Larry Smarr's vision and energetic leadership. Technological advances led by NCSA have opened up entire new areas of research and changed how we do business. I expect that NCSA will continue to build on and further this legacy. I wish Dr. Smarr great success at the University of California, San Diego, in a role that will continue to complement the goals of our Partnerships for Advanced Computational Infrastructure Program.
