NSF Arctic Observing Network (AON) Program Update

Effective immediately, the NSF Arctic Observing Network (AON) program will pause accepting full research proposals for 2025 to reassess priorities and enhance long-term observing strategies. This strategic review aims to improve coordination, data management and responsiveness to new research opportunities. AON will continue accepting Arctic Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Grants (NSF 20-597), conference proposals (NSF 23-052), EArly-Concept Grants for Exploratory Research and Rapid Response Research proposals, and supplemental funding requests per the current NSF Proposal and Award Policies and Procedures Guide (PAPPG). For more information, refer to the Dear Colleague Letter, An Update to the NSF Arctic Observing Network (AON) Program.

Before submitting, researchers should consult program directors Lauren Culler (lculler@nsf.gov) and Roberto Delgado (robdelga@nsf.gov).
