The Ocean Section of the Division of Ocean Sciences funds projects dealing with the disciplinary sciences of biological, chemical, and physical processes in the ocean. Grants are awarded on the basis of research and education merit, taking into account budgetary and programmatic reasons not directly related to research merit. In addition, there are frequent announcements of opportunity to participate in global change research programs and other initiatives.
