ABSTRACT

0744031
DeSutter

This grant supports acquisition of a Direct Mercury Analyzer to support regional studies of the transport and fate of Mercury in the environment released from the burning of coal at power plants at North Dakota State University. The instrument will facilitate studies of profound importance to human health and furthering understanding of the impacts of future increased coal burning on ecosystems. The instrument will support student training in analytical methods in geochemistry and enhance the analytical infrastructure available in the northern Great Plains.
