Abstract

The PIs will use a multidisciplinary approach to reconstruct reservoir ages over the last ~15,000 years thus correcting individual radiocarbon dates based on local variations in reservoir effects that will provide an improved chronostratigraphic basis for this time period. Better radiocarbon chronology from the region will improve our understanding of climate and tectonic variability in the NE Pacific.

Broader impacts lie in the importance of this work on geohazards to society. The study will also provide training of an undergraduate and a PhD student.
