NSF 2026 Idea Machine

March 24, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

We wanted to make you aware that NSF is seeking to further explore the pool of ideas submitted to the NSF 2026 Idea Machine, for the purpose of framing new potential areas for NSF investment. A Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) invites submission of proposals for Conferences, and EArly-concept Grants for Exploratory Research (EAGERs), following the 33 themes that emerged in the top group of Idea Machine entries. A few of these ideas were related to the oceans.  More information about the 33 NSF 2026 ideas can be found at  https://nsf2026imgallery.skild.com/.
For further information, please email NSF2026IM@nsf.gov

Best regards,

Terry Quinn
Director, Division of Ocean Sciences
