The U.S. National Science Foundation Directorate for Engineering (ENG) highlights opportunities in engineering research and education in seven areas that are essential for U.S. competitiveness and resilience. The Engineering Directorate describes topics of special interest in seven Dear Colleague Letters.

"NSF programs in engineering seek proposals that will expand what’s possible while making our Nation’s future more sustainable and prosperous," said Susan Margulies, assistant director for Engineering. "We encourage engineering researchers from every state and territory and from any eligible institution to send us their very best ideas."
