Division of Environmental Biology (DEB)Fall 2016 DEB Panel Decisions
DEB’s first priority is processing the decline notices. We’re trying to get your reviews back to you to provide as much time as possible to consider your options for January pre-proposal submissions. If your proposal fell into the definite decline group, then you’ll be getting an official notice from DEB. We are planning to have all declines approved by close of business (COB) December 20, 2016.
If your proposal fell into the definite award group or is a potential award/decline, you will first be getting a call or email from your Program Officer. Investigators in this group should hear from their Program Officers by COB December 20, 2016. Note, we expect official award recommendation dates and actions to occur later than usual this year for reasons related to the fiscal year budget.
After December 20, if you have not received any communication from DEB, first check your spam folder and then look up your proposal number and contact a Program Officer by phone. The lead PI for a proposal or collaborative group is the designated point of contact; if you are a co-PI, please get in touch with the lead PI and have them inquire.
For more information, see this blog post on the DEB blog.

The Division of Environmental Biology (DEB) supports fundamental research on populations, species, communities, and ecosystems. Scientific emphases range across many evolutionary and ecological patterns and processes at all spatial and temporal scales. Areas of research include biodiversity, phylogenetic systematics, molecular evolution, life history evolution, natural selection, ecology, biogeography, ecosystem structure, function and services, conservation biology, global change, and biogeochemical cycles. Research on organismal origins, functions, relationships, interactions, and evolutionary history may incorporate field, laboratory, or collection-based approaches; observational or manipulative experiments; synthesis activities; as well as theoretical approaches involving analytical, statistical, or computational modeling.
