NSF’s Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences Directorate’s Office of Multidisciplinary Activities (SMA) provides a focal point for programmatic activities that cut across NSF organizational boundaries. While many social, behavioral and economic sciences programs support multidisciplinary work, the Multidisciplinary Activities Office is the directorate’s broadest mechanism for contributing to NSF-wide priorities. The office assists with seeding new multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary activities and plays a critical role in the development of infrastructure underpinning those activities.
