Infrared Photo of Orion Nebula

Caption: This image of the Orion Nebula, approximately 1,500 light-years away, was taken with an NSF-funded infrared camera on the NASA Infrared Telescope located at the 14,000' summit of Mauna Kea, Hawaii. The majority of these stars have never been detected before, and many are thought to contain discs out of which solar systems may eventually form.
