TITLE: Dear Colleague Letter: FY2015 Faculty Early Development (CAREER) Program for the Directorate for Engineering, NSF 14-532 (nsf14062) DATE: 4/21/2014 NSF 14-062 Dear Colleague Letter: FY2015 Faculty Early Development (CAREER) Program for the Directorate for Engineering, NSF 14-532 BACKGROUND The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide program that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education, and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. A CAREER grant should build a firm foundation for the recipient for a lifetime of research excellence and creative leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply. PURPOSE OF THE DCL The purpose of this DCL is to announce an increase in the minimum CAREER award size for the Directorate for Engineering beginning in the FY15 competition (July 22, 2014 deadline). The minimum CAREER award size, including indirect costs, will total $500,000 for the 5-year duration. Specifically, this increase applies only to CAREER proposals submitted to programs in the following Divisions in the Engineering Directorate: * Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems (CBET) * Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) * Electrical, Computer and Cyber Systems (ECCS) * Engineering Education and Centers (EEC) Additional guidelines for the preparation of CAREER proposals are provided in the solicitation [1]NSF 14-532, which may be found at: [2]http://www.nsf.gov/publications/pub_summ.jsp?ods_key=nsf14532.
