A replica of the text that appears on the Liberty Bell is displayed separately in the Liberty Bell Pavilion in Independence National Historical Park. It is the first exhibit a visitor sees upon entering the building. In 1751, when the Speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly ordered a new Bell for the State House, he directed that a Bible verse be placed on the Bell. The verse, from the Book of Leviticus, reads "Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof."
