Panelists Needed for Cyberinfrastructure for Sustained Scientific Innovation (CSSI) Program

December 8, 2021

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to indicate your interest and availability to serve as a panelist for NSF's Cyberinfrastructure for Sustained Scientific Innovation (CSSI). This program is interdisciplinary and rely on both cyberinfrastructure experts as well as experts in all science and engineering fields traditionally supported by NSF. We expect that a topically diverse set of proposals across the geosciences will be submitted to this program and we seek panelists from the Earth sciences with interests in software, computation and/or data science.

Panels will be virtual and typically last two days. We expect each panelist to review about 6-8 proposals. Please complete the Survey Form which will inform us of your area(s) of expertise and your dates of availability to serve as a virtual panelist. Indicating availability or interest does not mean commitment to participate. Please complete the form by December 22, 2021 for earliest consideration.

Thank you very much for your interest in participating in this activity. The NSF peer review system depends upon the expertise of panelists such as you, and we truly appreciate your service.

The U.S. National Science Foundation propels the nation forward by advancing fundamental research in all fields of science and engineering. NSF supports research and people by providing facilities, instruments and funding to support their ingenuity and sustain the U.S. as a global leader in research and innovation. With a fiscal year 2023 budget of $9.5 billion, NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to nearly 2,000 colleges, universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives more than 40,000 competitive proposals and makes about 11,000 new awards. Those awards include support for cooperative research with industry, Arctic and Antarctic research and operations, and U.S. participation in international scientific efforts.
