Statement by Director Sethuraman Panchanathan on NSF ranking in Best Places to Work in the Federal Government

Statement from the Director

I am very pleased by the U.S. National Science Foundation being ranked 5th among mid-sized agencies in the 2020 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government®. Although we faced many unprecedented challenges over the past years, NSF not only continued our vital work to advance the frontiers of research and provide pathways to success for America’s STEM talent, but also remained dedicated to the health and wellbeing of our staff. This ranking is a testament to the work of NSF employees at every level - across every directorate and office - to engage in meaningful ways, foster communication, recognize team accomplishments and develop our workforce through advancements and training opportunities. We believe this survey is an important tool that provides a snapshot of our employees’ opinions and we are committed to continuing to ensure they are engaged, enabled and empowered to accomplish our critical mission.
