Shape-shifting robots perceive surroundings, make decisions for first time

A Cornell University-led team has developed modular robots that can perceive their surroundings, make decisions and autonomously assume different shapes in order to perform various tasks -- an accomplishment that brings the vision of adaptive, multipurpose robots a step closer to reality. Full Story

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
