Physicists Reveal How to Cope With Frustration

"Frustrated" systems--those in which the interactions among the components have no single minimum-energy state--are of great interest for problems, from neural networks and protein folding to social structures and magnetism. But they have been difficult to model. Now a team of physicists has created a scalable quantum-mechanical model.Full Story
