NSF invests additional $19 million in research infrastructure for earthquake, water and wind hazards

Purdue University civil engineering professors Antonio Bobet (left) and Julio Ramirez are heading up the Network Coordination Office of NSF Natural Hazards Engineering Research Infrastructure (NHERI). In the Robert L. and Terry L. Bowen Laboratory for Large-Scale Civil Engineering Research at Purdue, researchers in the Intelligent Infrastructure Systems Lab use a technique called hybrid simulation to test large- and small-scale structures like the one shown.
