The Dalton Highway and pipeline looking south towards Atagun Pass in the Brooks Range, Alaska, is located just south of the Toolik Lake Field Station, a NEON (National Ecological Observatory Network) research site. The NEON site offers researchers access to three key areas of scientific interest: the Brooks Range, the arctic foothills and the arctic coastal plain.

Santa Rita Experimental Range, outside Tuscon, Arizona

The Santa Rita Experimental Range, located about 50 kilometers south of Tucson, Ariz., is a NEON research site that focuses on land use and climate change. The range has a hundred-year history of ecological research.
