Suresh heard from educators at all levels during a STEM education roundtable at Iowa State on April 14, 2011. To his right is David Rethwisch from the University of Iowa's Chemical & Biochemical Engineering program. At left is Alexis Campbell, a graduate student who is a Fellow in NSF's Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) program.

While at Iowa State University on April 14, 2011, Suresh met with his advisor for his master's thesis, Shyam Bahadur, who is currently Emeritus Professor in the department of mechanical engineering at Iowa State. Suresh immigrated to the U.S. from India in 1977, earning his master's degree from Iowa State in 1979.

Suresh appears with Balaji Narasimhan, Vlasta Klima Balloun Professor of Engineering at Iowa State University. Narasimhan is associate dean for research and economic development in the department of chemical and biological engineering at Iowa State.
