Students at the Glenallen Elementary School in Silver Spring, Maryland, examine flowers and plants in the Gatorville Outdoor Classroom adjacent to their school. The students and their teacher, Kristi Cameron, collaborated to build Gatorville with a small grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The project won Cameron a Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2001, which is administered in part by the National Science Foundation.
