NSF-supported scientists continue to improve extended-range weather forecasting, identifying patterns halfway around the globe that will heighten the probability for hail and tornado-producing storms weeks later in the U.S. In this image, a supercell thunderstorm is seen near Moscow, Kansas, on May 21, 2020.
