Preventing proteins in medications from clumping - Biotech's Future

Protein Dynamics Solutions LLC, a small business funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, is developing a technology to address protein aggregation, a key bottleneck in the development of new protein therapeutics.

Belinda Pastrana, company CEO, explains the technology in this video. Proteins have a tendency to clump together. These clumps can compromise a medication’s efficacy and so exploring ways to keep proteins from clumping is an important research area.

Pastrana and her team have developed a technique that they say determines how a protein clumps, enabling researchers to modify the protein and improve ultimately drug performance.
