Images and other media in the National Science Foundation Multimedia Gallery are available for use in print and electronic material by NSF employees, members of the media, university staff, teachers and the general public. All media in the gallery are intended for personal, educational and nonprofit/non-commercial use only.
Videos credited to the National Science Foundation, an agency of the U.S. Government, may be distributed freely. However, some materials within the videos may be copyrighted. E-Tattoo Heart Monitor
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, killing approximately 610,000 people yearly. The electrocardiography machine-EKG-the current method for monitoring the heart has been the standard for decades. Now NSF-funded engineers at the University of Texas have developed a wearable technology made from stretchy, lightweight material that could make monitoring heart health easier and more accurate than existing EKG machines.
