Images and other media in the National Science Foundation Multimedia Gallery are available for use in print and electronic material by NSF employees, members of the media, university staff, teachers and the general public. All media in the gallery are intended for personal, educational and nonprofit/non-commercial use only.
Videos credited to the National Science Foundation, an agency of the U.S. Government, may be distributed freely. However, some materials within the videos may be copyrighted. Optics that use sound to shape light for better machine vision – CES 2016
NSF-funded small business Tag Optics is developing a lens that uses sound to more rapidly bring images into focus. Tag Optics co-founder and CEO Christian Theriault explains that the lens has applications for robotics, machine vision, metrology and more. The early-stage technology is funded through NSF's Small Business Innovation Research program and was featured at the 2016 International Consumer Electronics Show in the Eureka Park Marketplace.
