More S&E Docorates Awarded in 2003
After a decline in the number of science and engineering (S&E) doctorates awarded by U.S. institutions since 1998, National Science Foundation data for 2003 show increases in the overall number of doctorates earned, S&E doctorates earned, women earning doctorates and non-U.S. citizens earning science and engineering doctorates--a 2.8 percent upward tick.
