NSF's TCUP helping Native American students pursue advanced science degrees
With support from NSF's Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP), 51 students at Washington state's Northwest Indian College graduated with bachelor of science degrees, and six of the 2016 graduates are pursuing advanced degrees

Northwest Indian College in Washington state offers one of the few bachelor of science in Native environmental science programs in the world.
Supported by NSF's Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP), the first student enrolled in the program graduated in 2009. Since then, 51 students have graduated from the program, with 10 more on track to graduate in 2017, and another 81 currently enrolled.
Six of the 2016 graduates are pursuing advanced degrees and the first Ph.D. graduate will return to the college as a faculty member.
