Synopsis
The Broadening Participation Program in the Division of Chemistry (CHE) supports individuals throughout their STEM career pathway by division-specific, MPS-wide, and partnership funding opportunities for high school students, undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, early career faculty, and established faculty. These opportunities aim to broaden the participation of and increase opportunities for all scientists in order to become actively and competitively engaged in research as independent investigators. The Division of Chemistry seeks to increase the number of proposals submitted from individuals identifying with groups that are historically excluded and currently underrepresented in the chemistry enterprise. Investments in a globally engaged chemistry workforce reflecting the diversity of the U.S. enables CHE to meet its mission of advancing innovative research in the chemical sciences integrated with education.
PIs are encouraged to monitor current funding priorities identified by the Foundation and the Executive and Legislative Branches, and to highlight relevant synergies in their Project Summaries and Program Descriptions.
PIs uncertain of the suitability of their proposals for the CHE-BP Program and of their synergy with other funding priorities and/or programs are strongly encouraged to contact a CHE-BP Program Director.
