SYNOPSIS
The Division of Ocean Sciences (OCE) at the National Science Foundation (NSF) funds numerous research programs that collect environmental samples. Each year, thousands of these samples require analyses of environmental-level 14C abundances to determine the age of the samples. Sample types include sea water and a wide variety of other carbon-bearing materials. In order to process these samples and to provide research on new methods for 14C dating of oceanography-related samples, OCE supports the National Ocean Sciences Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (NOSAMS) facility. This solicitation seeks proposals to operate NOSAMS and provide necessary services to the ocean sciences research community.
