Puppet shows conducted by Yale University's Karen Wynn and Kiley Hamlin (who is now with the University of British Columbia) suggest that some babies may actively favor "mean" individuals who mistreat others as long as the mistreated invividuals do not share the baby's food preferences. Results of the experiments may help researchers better understand in what ways infants' social preferences influence their learning.
