The number of S&E and non-S&E doctoral degrees awarded to U.S. citizens and permanent residents with disabilities was about the same in 2006 as in 1997.
- U.S. citizens and permanent residents with disabilities earned 272 S&E doctorates in 2006, with numbers fluctuating between 251 and 309 over the 1997–2006 period.
- They earned from 289 to 372 non-S&E doctorates during that period.
- Persons with disabilities earned approximately 2% of the 16,712 S&E doctorates to U.S. citizens and permanent residents in 2006.
