Daniel S. Katz is on leave from his position as a Senior Fellow in the Computation Institute, University of Chicago and Argonne National Laboratory. He is also an affiliate faculty member at the Center for Computation and Technology (CCT) and an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Louisiana State University (LSU). He is interested in the development and use of advanced cyberinfrastructure to solve challenging problems at multiple scales. His technical interests include applications, algorithms, fault tolerance, and programming in parallel and distributed computing. His policy interests include citation and credit mechanisms and practices associated with software and data, organization and community practices for collaboration, and career paths for computing researchers. He received his PhD from Northwestern University in 1994 and worked for Cray Research, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and LSU prior to moving to Chicago in 2009.
