NSF OIG Office of Audit and the Recovery Act

During the first two years of the Recovery Act, the Office of Audit (OA) will be primarily engaged in performing "proactive" evaluations aimed at preventing problems before they occur, and ensuring that NSF's ARRA efforts are successfully initiated.

For example, in 2009 OA issued three alert memorandums to NSF concerning various Recovery Act issues that required immediate management attention. We issued reports on ARRA data quality at 10 NSF awardees. At one of the smaller of those 10 awardees we also issued a report assessing its capability to manage funds in accordance with ARRA requirements. In future years, OA plans to conduct more traditional types of audits and reviews that focus on ongoing operations and awards. Our ARRA related reports and memos are listed below:

American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Lessons Learned Review, Report Number OIG-12-3-002 (August 24, 2012)
