Justin Lawrence is an environmental scientist with broad expertise in aquatic ecology, hydrology, and environmental engineering. While at the University of California, Berkeley, Justin researched innovative applications for recycled water to benefit ecosystems in urban streams and wetlands. He worked in close collaboration with the multi-institutional and interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers in the National Science Foundation’s Engineering Research Center for Reinventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt). He also worked closely during this time with museum staff at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley, CA, to develop hands-on, public outreach activities for their Ingenuity Lab. Justin is broadly interested and engaged in forward-thinking environmental projects that promote conservation and rehabilitation of natural systems through sound science and collaborations with communities and individuals in government, academic, business, and non-profit sectors. As a AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow assigned to the Earth Sciences Division of the National Science Foundation, Justin is currently involved in broader impacts dialogue and interagency energy issues.
