  • The average math score of Asians/Pacific Islanders has exceeded the NAEP proficient level since 2005.
  • The average math scores of blacks, Hispanics, and American Indians/Alaska Natives have exceeded the NAEP basic level since 2003.
  • The average science scores for white and Asian/Pacific Islander students were at least 28 points higher than those for black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native students.
  • The average science score of 4th grade black students was below the basic level in 2009.
