Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination
View a video clip from the exhibit's world premiere.
This exhibit was developed by the Museum of Science in collaboration with Lucasfilm, Ltd. It explores the possibility that the fantasy technologies used in the Star Wars films become real. It treats landspeeders and two-legged sociable robots as design challenges and examines the science and current research that may lead to real-life versions of these technologies. Museum-goers learn about these and other fantasy technologies in the Star Wars universe through film clips and more than 80 props, models and costumes, and discover how ideas like these become real-life technologies through hands-on exhibits, immersive experiences, and cutting edge innovations. The exhibit includes two multi-station engineering design labs where visitors design, build and test solutions to challenges, and an immersive "object theater" that compares robotic technology today with capabilities of R2-D2.
