USSSP Scientific Ocean Drilling Town Hall with NSF/OCE Staff

June 29, 2023

The U.S. Science Support Program (USSSP) will be hosting a community Town Hall to discuss the current state and future of U.S. scientific ocean drilling. The hour and a half event will be held in a virtual format on Thursday, July 6, 2023, beginning at 2 PM (ET) / 11 AM (PT). This meeting will feature Division of Ocean Science (OCE) Division Director, James McManus, and Ocean Drilling Program Officers Kevin Johnson and Jamie Allan. NSF/OCE staff will provide a brief overview of recent decisions and plans for ensuring near- and long-term sustainability of the U.S. scientific ocean drilling community. This will be followed by a Q&A session moderated by USSSP Director Carl Brenner and U.S. Advisory Committee for Scientific Ocean Drilling (USAC) Chair Becky Robinson. The goal of this Town Hall is to clarify NSF’s position and plans and foster discussion regarding a shared vision for the community.

Questions may be submitted in advance or asked during the meeting itself. You may also submit a question even if you are unable to attend. All interested parties are welcome. A link to the recording will be posted on the USSSP website.
