NIST, UC Davis scientists float new approach to creating computer memory

A research team including scientists from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the University of California, Davis, have uncovered a method to create magnetic "skyrmions" under ambient room conditions. Skyrmions are ghostly quantum rings, heretofore glimpsed only under extreme laboratory conditions, that may serve as the basis for a new type of computer memory.Full Story
