Dr. Subra Suresh, director of the National Science Foundation (NSF), has completed the third of three Congressional hearings about the President's fiscal year 2012 NSF budget request of $7.8 billion.

In written and verbal testimony, Suresh emphasized that the budget request is consistent with the President's Plan for Science and Innovation, the Administration's Innovation Strategy, and the America COMPETES Reauthorization Act of 2010. The proposed 13 percent increase in NSF's budget would support 2,000 more research awards.

Suresh gave testimony to the House Committee on Appropriations; Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; House Committee on Science, Technology, & Space; and Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation; Subcommittee on Science and Space.
