NSB members will visit Ohio State's Thompson Library, now open after a three-year renovation designed to turn the 1913 building into a 21st Century academic center. Highlights include: seating for 1,800--more than double the number of seats available before the renovation; more than 200 computers with Internet access, as well as wireless access and plenty of wall outlets, so students can work on their laptops; special collections, such as a consolidation of 250,000 rare books in one central space; and "green" elements, including use of renewable and recycled materials, use of daylight, and energy-efficient lighting and heating/cooling systems.
