NSF Days at Montana State University

About the series

Montana State University and the National Science Foundation are sponsoring a two-day workshop in Bozeman, Montana, September 13 and 14, 2007.

On September 13th, presentations will provide an introduction to and overview of the National Science Foundation, its proposal and merit review process, its crosscutting programs, international programs, and programs for tribal colleges and universities. There will also be presentations on the programs of each of the NSF directorates: Mathematical and Physical Sciences; Biological Sciences; Computer and Information Science and Engineering; Education and Human Resources; Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences; Engineering; and Geosciences, as well as time for participants to chat informally with NSF program managers.

September 14th, will feature hands-on tutorial sessions on FastLane, NSF's web-based, interactive system for doing business with the Foundation.  The morning session focuses on proposal preparation and other pre-award topics and will also cover grants.gov.  The afternoon session focuses on post-award topics. Attendance at the FastLane sessions is optional.

There is a registration fee for this workshop.  If paid by September 5, 2007, the registration fee is $50.00.  After September 5th, the fee will be $75.00.

The Thursday sessions will be held in the Holiday Inn, 5 East Baxter Lane, Bozeman, Montana.  The Friday FastLane sessions will be held in 303 Reid Hall, on the MSU campus. Seats for the FastLane sessions are limited, so register early.

The National Science Foundation is charged with keeping our nation's science and engineering enterprise healthy, dynamic and relevant, and with advancing science, mathematics, engineering and technology education at all levels from pre-K through postdoctoral. It is our hope that events such as this will stimulate new interest in NSF programs at institutions that have not been among our traditional customers, as well as at premier research institutions.
