Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI)

EFRI FY 2016 Topic Ideas

EFRI invites the research community to submit suggestions for Topic Ideas (DCL NSF 15-018) to be considered for the FY 2016 Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) Program Solicitation; the deadline is December 19, 2014.

EFRI FY 2015 Solicitation

The EFRI Office has a new funding opportunity for interdisciplinary teams of researchers to embark on rapidly advancing frontiers of fundamental engineering research. For this new solicitation, we will consider proposals to investigate emerging frontier ideas on:

Two-dimensional Atomic-layer Research and Engineering (2-DARE)

  • Letter of Intent (required) due November 7, 2014
  • Preliminary Proposal (required) due January 9, 2015
  • Full Proposal (by invitation) due March 30, 2015

Program requirements, contacts, and instructions are in the FY 2015 EFRI 2-DARE solicitation (NSF 15-502).

The solicitation names two template files that must be submitted to efri2015@nsf.gov for each proposal: an Excel file and a PowerPoint file.

Research Experience and Mentoring (REM)

EFRI grantees may seek supplements for Research Experience and Mentoring (REM). The Dear Colleague Letter on EFRI REM (NSF 14-114) provides a program description and instructions.
