New Coating Could Prevent Infection From Surgical Tools and Implants

Cloudy liquids show bacterial growth; tube with clear liquid contains penicillin-coated surface.

The cloudy liquids in three of these test tubes show that bacteria has started growing. The one tube with clear liquid contains a surface coated with penicillin using a new method developed by researchers at The University of Southern Mississippi that has prevented the growth of bacteria.
